March Repair Cafe Round-up
A huge ‘thank you’ to all the 23 people who volunteered at the Repair Cafe yesterday, we missed those of you who couldn’t make it, and hope to see you all again soon.
As well as the ‘fabulous 23’ there were 39 visitors to the Cafe.
This month we trialled taking visitors post-codes - in order that, over time, we can ‘target’ our advertising in areas where we are getting low levels of take up.
We worked on (at least) 28 items, not to mention the various ‘odds and ends’ which our visitors sought unexpected help with!! Of these:
12 were fixed
7 couldn’t be fixed
5 were either half fixed, or where advice was given*
4 are ‘ongoing’
One repaired item was returned from last month.
* Advice given includes the ‘mysterious and magical’ works of our fantastic ‘Crafters Corner’ team, who were out in full force yesterday.
Thanks go to those people who donated tools to us (you know who you are) and to Saputo Dairy UK who, courtesy of their company lottery (and a nomination by Linda N) awarded us £250 towards our running costs. Thank you everyone.
Steve has been kitting out a standard tool kit for general use - this will be available at each Cafe for everyone to use. He’ll shortly circulate a list of its contents.
Finally, do watch out for our regular ‘slots’ in the ‘Your Elmbridge’ magazine: www.yourelmbridge.co.uk Our most recent article focussed on ‘Descaling’ (a subject that we know is close to many of your hearts!)
Visitor quote of the month: “Everyone that’s leaving is smiling….”
